2018 Under 6 Coach’s Report
The boys had an outstanding season under head coach Dave and assistant coach Michael.
The boys playing abilities from the start of the season to the end of the season, shows huge progress individually and as a whole team unit.
We had a few young boys who by the end of the season were taking on players twice their size with complete confidence that they may have lacked the first half of the season. Having older boys along side them who had played before, encouraged them to step up and give it their best go with the team behind them.
The older boys with a year or two experience, added even more skills to their game. And was a vast improvement from the beginning to the end of the season.
Training was made easy with the help of Mums & Dads getting involved where ever they could, it’s not an easy task keeping a team of under 6’s focused at 4pm on a Thursday but everyone helped and the kids always had a great training session.
Special mentions to the Dads who helped coach/ref/adjudicate on Saturdays when needed as well as the Mums & Dads who helped out with scoring, subbing and general management type duties when needed if I was unavailable.
All the boys skills improved over the season whether it was with confidence running the ball up, making a tackle or offloading to a team mate. Darcy a stand out with his speed and tackling, Brooklyn made huge efforts in scoring tries and tackling, a few of the younger boys made progress with confidence to get involved in plays and tackles. Nephi was quick on his feet and scoring tries each game, finny was excellent in defending.
Each boy on our team played for the club and our team with pride and excellence. Couldn’t be prouder of the team work on the field each game and just of the boys in general.
Looking forward to another season with the brothers, thanks to the club for all that they do for our kids, Amy
