2018 Season Report – Under 12
Well for me it was a year of what could have been.
Both the maroons and the whites had the potential to win both their respective competition’s. The availability of players throughout the year played a part in the boy’s final result, as did a couple of games that should have gone our way and with injuries to players, we ended up in positions that we should have never been at the end of the year, but as they say that’s footy.
And as always there are positives to take from the season, I believe it is important that the boys learn to lose graciously, which in my opinion is lost on many. As a parent of these young men you should be very proud of the way they conduct themselves both on the field and off the field. There were numerous occasions during the year when the boys had opposition players trying to niggle them and saying things on the field best left there, but as the young men they are they did not complain but simply put their head down and played on, playing excellent football and left the opposition in their wake.
A season such as this is a learning experience for them all. As they go forward in life it is a realisation that winning is hard and not everyone gets a trophy. But as we always say the most important thing is the boys had fun.
But a massive positive from the whole season was that when we spoke to them and told them their year had ended, the boys had a determined look in their eyes, all vowed to return next year. The most positive thing was the boys all just looked at each other shrugged their shoulders and went and played footy together. Perfect, no pressure no expectations just having a run around with your mates and having fun, the way it should be. There will be plenty of time in the future for expectations and competition, but it should be a key point in my opinion to ensure that whatever sport they play is fun and we are supportive of them.
A point that should not be lost on anyone was that we had over 30 registered players throughout the year, there were of course the little niggles with 30 young men, but overall they worked together as a group, supported each other and became conscious that everyone is different and has differing levels of ability and worked together as a common goal. And more importantly they had fun.
The team was:
Koby Smith Caelan Pitkeathly Daniel Povah Carter Sengchanh Isaac Bromley
Bodhi Hanson Jesse Matheson Angus Williams Cameron Paull Jai Angelo
Oscar Dacic John Havili Sam Harrington Dylan Cahill Mark Elderkin
Henry Curll Ollie Williamson Sulli Masters Charlie Blank Sam Blank
Ollie Davies Henry Conick Ben Bousie Baxter Stewart Billy Ryan
Will Rylands Jesse Nable Zac Toole Joe Walsh Max Clarke Moar
Felix Perego Xander O’Gorman Coby Toon
Again we had a large amount of returning players and we welcomed new players from other clubs and codes to our club. It was an extremely successful year made possible only through the many helpers we had and the support the boys receive from you, be it by washing their uniforms, manning the bbq and canteen on game day or simply getting them to training each week.
A special thanks to Gino MOORE who kindly gave up his time and passed on years of coaching experience to the boys, Hayden MASTERS the world best water boy for his unyielding patience with the boys both at training and on game day, massive thanks to Adrian TOOLE for imparting years of first grade experience while at training and on game day especially while I was away.
A special thanks to the manager of the year again Mrs Sandy BLANK, the glue that holds the team together, we would all be truly lost without her, thanks heaps Sandy, you even got your own paragraph as you are that wonderful.
I do not intend to give a summary of each of the boys other than to say it is an absolute privilege to have been allowed to coach these young men, as parents you can be assured that if they were not such a wonderful group of young men I wouldn’t keep coming back. As parents you should be extremely proud of you son and the way they represent your family, mums and dads you have done a cracking job…
Again thank you for your support.
See you on the side.

Adopt a Sea Eagle – Jackson Hastings
A very talented half-back who can also play five-eighth, full-back and hooker, Jackson is a player who will be out for a big season in 2018. A former Sydney Roosters player, Jackson is a clever organising half with a solid kicking game. He is also an accomplished goal-kicker. Off the field, Jackson does plenty of work in the community and enjoys helping those less fortunate.
