2019 NSWRL Junior League Season Launch

Share

Does your child want to play down an age group?

Kids come in all shapes and sizes. Some kids are able to play more confidently, and really shine, when they are matched with players their own size.

Based on weight and ability, there is an opportunity for kids to play down one age group, but to do so, they must obtain dispensation from NSW Rugby League.  NSWRL has set aside three dates so players wanting to play down an age group can be weighed before the season starts.

WEIGHT DISPENSATION

Three “weigh in” afternoons/nights only

Night 1
Date: Monday 18th March
Venue: Magpies Leagues Club, Waitara
Time: 4pm – 6pm

Night 2
Date: Tuesday 19th March
Venue: North Sydney Leagues Club
Time: 4pm – 6:30pm

Night 3
Date: Tuesday 2nd April
Venue: Narrabeen Academy of Sport – Rugby League Office
Time: 4pm – 6:30pm

Your child MUST attend one of these nights for weigh in to be able to play down an age group.

Important: To play down an age group, weighing is necessary.  Weight dispensation guidelines were developed to allow a player who isn’t confident of being able to handle the physicality of their own age group to play down one age group. They are not designed for the gun player who happens to be small to play down an age and be a stand out.

Vale Dempsey Joy

We are saddened to inform you that Dempsey Joy passed away on Thursday, 25 October 2018.

Dempsey’s playing career in rugby league commenced as a junior with the Manly Christian Brothers Rugby League Club. He eventually changed codes to play rugby union for many seasons with the Manly Rugby Union Club, mainly as a lock forward, accumulating over 125 games in first-grade. Followed by approaches from the neighbouring strong Manly Warringah District Rugby League Football Club, Dempsey decided to change codes again and in 1975 and 1977 he played numerous games in reserve grade including eight first-grade games, mainly in the front row.

Before retiring from playing rugby league he spent time as Captain Coach with the Tamworth City Rugby League Football Club and successfully won the premiership during his time there.

He will be missed by our community.
