Manly Brothers 26 v Berowra Wallabies 24
We got the result in the end. But the game wasn’t without a few nervous moments.
Completions were hard to come by in the first half, and a strong Berowra side capitalised on the lions share of possession by crossing for the first try of the game. We hit back with Evander Waitoa crossing twice from dummy half. Berowra hit Back before half time with us going into the break locked up at 10-all.
Manly Brothers were confident of going on with the job if we could maintain possession. However Berowra crossed twice in the opening 10 minutes of the second half to take a 18-10 lead.
We hit back through David Taufa running a beautiful line off Travis Shaw to score under the posts. Then we took the lead a short time after when Kelly Sionemale crossed from Dummy half.
The game looked all but locked up when Johnny Fakai crossed with 5 minutes on the clock giving us a 26-18 lead.
However Berowra regathered off the kick off, and crossed a few plays later to put them within 2 points with 4 minutes still to play.
Berowra knocked-on on their first hit up off the kick off, and Manly Brothers managed to maintain possession and field position and hang on to win 26-24.
Our centres performed strongly all night with:
Tulsa Saumamao taking 1 point, and
Johnny Fakai the 2.
Evander Waitoa lead the team around the park and earned the 3 points.
